Medical devices after nerve damage
Solutions to help you
Sensory disturbances and paralysis in any part of the body represent a challenge in day-to-day life. Functional electrical stimulation (FES), orthoses and wheelchairs are valuable medical devices in such cases – to make everyday life easier and often also beyond. Especially in the course of rehabilitation, they make dexterity training and strengthening the musculature possible. For example, you can even regain abilities through training after a stroke.
When an intact nerve no longer receives signals from the central nervous system (CNS), then it should be possible to stimulate the nerve artificially! This was the conclusion reached by researchers that led them to develop functional electrical stimulation (FES) for the body.
Orthoses are stabilising and provide support, especially in case of paralysis and sensory disturbances in a body region. They improve the body posture, overall mobility and often also safety while moving, as well as balance.
